Two cultures, one island
My Best Bali is a hand-picked guide to the island's finest stays, attractions, tours, dives, spas and beaches, across eleven regions. We choose which places enter the directory ourselves, and we only list what we would recommend to a friend.
How it started
Ni Luh Srinasi was born in Selat, in the regency of Buleleng on the north coast of Bali. Marcel came to the island from Switzerland. Their paths came together, and they married in 2014.
The two of them bring together two views of the same island. From Marcel comes the Swiss attention to precision and to doing things properly. From Srinasi comes a knowledge of Bali from the inside, of its people and its everyday life.
Why we started
After Covid hit tourism in Bali hard, many local businesses were left looking for guests. Srinasi and Marcel decided to help them attract better visitors: respectful travellers who look for the authentic, and whose choices keep the local economy alive.
That decision is why this site exists. We list the places we have selected by hand. Good travellers find places worth their time, and good businesses find guests who will value them.
